To help maintain a healthy body, your goal should be to have one to two “normal” bowel movements per day. Normal stool is most often long, formed, easy to pass, and does not contain any blood or mucous. Common causes of constipation include drinking less than six cups of water daily, having too much caffeine, tea or alcohol, smoking, a diet low in fruits and vegetables, eating too many processed foods or sugar, pharmaceutical drugs, ignoring the urge to use the washroom, and lack of exercise.

For every piece food you put into your body, it must come out, so the longer it remains in your colon, the greater possibility that toxins will build up, which enter the blood stream and re-circulate back into the liver. When the liver is overloaded, your body will produce toxicity symptoms such as bloating, gas, poor memory, sweating, and fatigue.

Accumulation of toxins in the body are due to a great number of factors such as exposure to Bisphenol A from plastics, pesticides and hormones in the diet, food sensitivities, environmental allergies, and chronic worry or stress. Helping your body process toxins more efficiently is one of many reasons why people choose to do a cleanse. Detoxification is the process of clearing toxins from the body, so that you heal from the inside out. The detox process helps eliminate wastes, removes dead cells, and revitalizes the body’s natural functions and healing capabilities.

Symptoms of toxicity include difficulty losing weight, unhealthy looking skin, headaches, joint pain, eczema, sinus congestion, bloating, gas, constipation, poor concentration, insomnia, sweating, sugar cravings, moodiness, or low energy.

Good health is linked to a great number of factors from how we feel, move, sleep, and think, to our food choices. Make it a priority every day to drink at least eight cups of water and no more than one caffeinated beverage, exercise for at least 20 minutes, get at least seven solid hours of sleep, make someone smile, and prepare wholesome food that helps you feel good and energized.
